WEEKLY FOOD DISTRIBUTION

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to feed as many as we can when we are open for weekly food distribution on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9-11:30 AM each week. Community Outreach is something that we take very seriously, and our team works diligently each and every day to make a positive impact on our clients. This food distribution is our primary form of assistance to the community which offers free food for low-income residents within Angelina County. A typical order of food includes meat, pantry goods, fresh produce, and bakery items. This all depends on what food is donated to us, and CISC makes the best effort to give out a variety of food and let nothing go to waste. New clients will need to bring a photo ID and bill with proof of Angelina County residence to register with us.

BACKPACK BUDDY PROGRAM

The Backpack Buddy Program is meant to serve school children who receive free breakfast and lunch at school. It provides that the children in need of food assistance will take home the backpacks on Friday to ensure that there is enough easy to prepare food to get them through the weekend. CISC currently works with sixteen schools and delivers about 350-425 backpacks per week. Households with children in need of this assistance can obtain it by signing up with their school’s head counselor. If you are interested in volunteering to support this program, please contact us and let us know!

HELPING HANDS PROGRAM

The Helping Hands Program was established in June 2020 as a way to bring food to clients who were veterans or disabled, living alone, and did not have access to transportation to come pick up food here at CISC. We understand that some of the people who need our help the most do not have a way to come to our facility and this program enables us to go to them. We are blessed to be able to serve about 50 clients every week with this program. As of right now, we are not taking in new applications to join the program.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

CISC is thankful to have wonderful partnerships with various community agencies who aid us in fulfilling our purpose of service to others. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we appreciate and welcome all donations. If your business or agency is interested in making a donation, please contact Executive Director Yulonda Richard at (936) 634-2857.
